Car Check
Paste a listing. See what it hides in seconds.
Especially useful if you are new to Portugal and buying a used car here for the first time. Free during our public beta. The analysis is fully automated: the listing is read, the stated facts are separated from the gaps, the Portuguese registration, inspection and tax requirements are matched to it, and the official portals where you verify each point yourself are linked directly. The report appears on this page.

- IMT Online (Instituto da Mobilidade e dos Transportes)

Also need to check a property and health cover?
Property Check, Car Check and the Health Report are all free during our public beta.
No listing link? Quick check at the dealer or private seller
Buying in person? Ask the seller for these documents before you agree a price. You check them yourself on the official portals.
What to ask the seller
- Registration plate (matrícula) and VIN, matching the car itself.
- Documento Único Automóvel (DUA) or certificado de matrícula, in the seller's name.
- Proof of the latest IPO inspection and the inspection sheets (ficha de inspeção).
- Service record and invoices that support the stated mileage.
Where to confirm it
- IMT Online: inspection (IPO) status by plate.
- Automóvel Online (IRN): registered owner, reserva de propriedade, charges and seizures.
- Portal das Finanças: IUC (annual road tax) and ISV if imported.
Step-by-step IMT Online guide
How to check the IPO by plate, tell IMT and IRN apart, and exchange a foreign driving licence.
What the automated report always covers
The facts and the gaps
- Everything the listing states: make, model, version, year, mileage, fuel, price, seller type, service claims.
- What is absent and matters: matrícula and VIN, documento único automóvel, IPO inspection history, service record.
- Whether the vehicle could carry a reserva de propriedade, finance charge or seizure.
- Imported-vehicle signals, and mileage claims without evidence.
Costs, questions and next steps
- The costs that follow the purchase: ownership transfer registration, IUC, insurance, inspection, and ISV if imported.
- Official simulators rather than invented amounts.
- Precise questions for the seller, written from this specific listing.
- The mechanical and documentary checks to insist on before any payment.
What this is not
We are not a dealer and we never guarantee the condition of a vehicle or tell you whether to buy it. The report shows what is stated, what is missing and where to confirm it. An independent mechanical inspection remains essential before you pay anything.
