Buying a home, importing a car, choosing health cover or handling residency paperwork in Portugal involves institutions, documents and rules that are entirely logical once you know them, and opaque until you do. Most of the information available to newcomers is either selling something or written for people who already understand the system.
Portugal Decide exists to close that gap. We structure what is known, mark clearly what is an estimate, name what only a licensed professional can answer, and link you to the official Portuguese source so you can confirm every material point yourself.
How we work
- Research
- We gather what is actually knowable about your situation from official and institutional sources, and we say plainly when something cannot be verified.
- Compare
- We put options side by side on the parameters that change outcomes — cost, risk, coverage, what is excluded — instead of ranking them.
- Decide
- You decide. Our job is to make sure nothing important was invisible when you did, and that you know which questions to ask.
- Verify
- Every report points to the official Portuguese portal where the point can be confirmed. Checking it is part of using this properly.
What we are not

- Real-estate agency, buyer's agent, developer or valuer.
- Car dealership, vehicle trader or inspection centre.
- Law firm, solicitor or notary.
- Tax consultancy or accountancy practice.
- Insurance broker, intermediary or insurer.
- Medical provider, relocation agency or financial adviser.
Rules we hold ourselves to
- We never invent facts, fees, processing times, statistics, testimonials, partnerships or qualifications.
- We never claim endorsement by any public institution — we are independent of all of them.
- We never state that a specific property or vehicle is a good or bad purchase.
- We never name a health product as the best one.
- We take no commission from sellers, agents, dealers, insurers or lenders, and we use no affiliate links.
- When something requires a licensed professional, we say so instead of answering around it.
Where our information comes from
Our order of preference is fixed: Portuguese government and public institutions first, then official legislation, then regulatory authorities such as the ASF and IMT, then official institutional and company websites, then reputable specialist sources. General web content is used only where nothing better exists, and is labelled accordingly.
Where a statement cannot be supported, our AI is instructed to say exactly that rather than fill the gap. A visible gap is more useful than a confident guess.
